Tamas Haidegger
Hungary→Baltimore
“I developed strong professional connections which helped me in numerous ways. I met the best people in my field and once I got to know them, I could ask them questions any time and they assisted me all along - even today.””
Tamas completed an internship at the Laboratory for Computational Sensing and Robotics at Johns Hopkins University in 2007-2008 through the Hungarian American Enterprise Scholarship Fund. Now a pioneer in robotics, he still finds time to give back to his community.
"The HAESF internship was a life-changing experience, which still determines my daily activities. I learnt quite a bit about high-end scientific research, research and education management, laboratory project management, scientific paper and grant writing, and picked up various other soft skills. Also, the professional relationships lasted: I have sent numerous students to the U.S., having joint grants with Johns Hopkins University and an active working relationship with numerous groups I got to know during my stay."
What he’s up to now:
Deputy Director for the newly created Antal Bejczy Center for Intelligent Robotics at Óbuda University in Budapest. Tamas is also a co-founder and CEO of the startup company HandInScan, developer of the Semmelweis System of hand hygiene quality management, now in use in North American, European, and Japanese health care institutions.
